Profile
Michelle is a PhD student in Clinical Psychology at the University of Ottawa. She has worked with the MacDonald Franklin OSI Research Centre since March 2023.
Michelle’s research is in psychotraumatology, with a focus on moral injury. Some of her work with MFOSIRC includes contributing to the development of a moral injury prevention framework, research with veterans affected by the LGBT Purge, and recent work on defining potentially morally injurious events (Houle et al., 2026).
Her methodological focus includes qualitative research, virtual reality research, and survey design. Her dissertation takes a racialized and cultural lens on moral injury, with an emphasis on a strengths-based approach, and includes a qualitative study with urban First Nations people and a virtual reality experiment on how cultural affirmation buffers the relationship between experiences of racism and moral emotional outcomes.
